The Press: Why We Ask You Not to Rub
Most skincare instructions say “apply and massage.” Ours say press. The difference is not about preference — it is about what happens to a fresh botanical cream when you apply friction versus when you apply warmth.

The RéBella Ritual is three steps. A small amount from the jar, pressed into warm skin, soft luminous finish. The middle step is the one most people do differently from how we ask — and it’s the one that matters most.
Why pressing works
When you press a rich botanical cream into warm skin, you are letting the skin’s own warmth do the delivery. The cream makes contact, the warmth softens the texture at the point of contact, and the botanicals settle naturally into the surface of the skin rather than being moved around it.
Pressing also creates consistent, even coverage without mechanical disruption. Each press deposits the same amount in the same way. The botanical texture distributes evenly without pilling, balling, or separating — which can happen when a fresh formula is rubbed vigorously.
What rubbing does differently
Rubbing generates more friction and more heat across a larger area. For a mass-produced, shelf-stable cream, this can help absorption. For a small-batch, whole-plant cream, it can disrupt the texture before the botanicals have had time to settle.
This is a small difference, but it is a real one. A farm-origin cream applied with pressing will feel different — more even, more comfortable — than the same cream applied with the rubbing motion you may use for everything else in your routine.
Sixty seconds
The ritual takes sixty seconds. Not because we want to be precise, but because that is genuinely how long the warmth of the skin takes to settle a rich cream on a normal skin surface. After sixty seconds of pressing, the cream will have settled, the texture will have shifted, and the surface of the skin will feel soft and nourished without any residue or tackiness.
If you feel anything left on the surface after sixty seconds, you have used too much. Start with less next time.
Why this is the ritual
The press is not a gimmick. It is the correct way to apply a small-batch, whole-plant botanical cream — the way that respects the density of the formula, uses the skin’s own warmth, and treats the fresh formula as what it is: something grown and made carefully to work a specific way.

Begin with the jar
Open the jar. The cream is dense and alive with the farm — papaya, hibiscus, aloe, ti, lilikoi, whole plants grown and hand-tended in Hawaiʻi. Cool to the touch, warm from the land.

A small amount
Less than you think. A small-batch, whole-plant cream is denser and richer than a mass-produced formula. A pea-sized amount for the full face is correct. The texture opens up as it meets the warmth of your skin.

The press
Apply with the pads of your fingers. Press — do not rub. Hold each press for two to three seconds. The warmth of your skin is doing the work. Let it. Sixty seconds total, and you are done.
